Clevedon at the 2025 Newquay Pilot Gig Championships
After a long-awaited return—delayed by stormy seas and shifting schedules—Clevedon Pilot Gig Club proudly made its mark at the 2025 Newquay Championships. This year’s format saw the Ladies’ races on Saturday and the Men’s on Sunday, each packed with fierce competition and unforgettable moments.
Ladies’ Crew: Grit and Determination
Our Ladies crew took to the water in Heat 5, battling strong tides and seasoned rivals. Despite a valiant effort and powerful rowing, they placed 5th in their heat, just shy of the top 2 needed to progress. Their spirit and teamwork were undeniable, and they represented Clevedon with pride.
Men’s Crews: Double the Power
Clevedon fielded two full men’s crews—a testament to the club’s growth and commitment.
- Mens B Crew opened the day in Heat 8, putting in a solid performance against tough competition.
- Mens A Crew followed in Heat 11, powering into the top 3 and securing a place in the next round. Their second row later in the day was equally strong, but they narrowly missed out on a third race.
From unpredictable weather to high-stakes heats, Clevedon’s rowers showed resilience, camaraderie, and true club spirit. We’re proud of every stroke they pulled and every wave they faced. Here's to building on this momentum for next season!
