The first CPGA Tribute Championship regatta kicked off the summer of racing this weekend with a number of Clevedon crews entering to race in Swanage. The number of boats participating in this event ranged from 10-15 per race.

Mens B went out first, completing the 3 buoy turn race and crossing the line in 4th position. Ladies A followed, again gaining a good placing in 8th. The ladies C went out next with 2 junior rowers Maya and Megan filling in who held their own and put on a great performance, the ladies finished in 7th position despite an oar breaking mid race. Other races of the day included the ladies veterans finishing 11, mens vets finishing 8 and the juniors strong as ever placing 6 out of 12.
The popular mixed race rounded the day off nicely with the guys and girls speeding around the course and crossing the line in 9th place.

It was a busy weekend for Clevedon, with some members also attending the beautiful Salcombe regatta on the Sunday. This bought some debut appearances for Kathy and Abbie Ruffle who rowed in the ladies B and mixed race respectively.
The blue crew were ever present racing and socialising in full force and showing true Clevedon spirit!

It’s safe to say the summer of racing has started!
