Super Victory for Super Vets

Clevedon's Super Vets Mixed Crew rowed to victory on 23 Feb at Appledore.

Crews from across the South West came together to participate in the National Super Vets Championships.
With some crews having rowed together for over ten years, and winds that could lift you off your feet, the odds were stacked against Clevedon. However this did not stop our Mixed Vets crew of Chris Hastings, Kay Hamilton, Steve Burnside, Rowena Hastings, Nikki Flanagan, Neil Wilson and Debs Barnes (Cox) from storming to victory in the mixed final. As with any good race it was not without its dramas and disqualifications, but Clevedon held a strong line and their win was well deserved.

Both the Men’s and the Ladies crews rowed well against fierce competition, but were sadly knocked out in the initial heats.

A special mention is required for Jackie Davies who joined an Appledore Ladies Barbarian crew, who came third in the ladies competition. Fantastic efforts were put in by Jackie and her crew.
